Anti-Freeze & Anti-Rust Function of Water Pump Special Inverter (AU620/M740/YS820 Series)

The anti-freeze and anti-rust function of this series of water pump special inverters (e.g., AU620, M740, YS820) mainly prevents water pumps from freezing in low-temperature environments or seizing due to rust caused by long-term shutdown through a timed, short-term low-frequency operation logic.

Operation Mechanism & Parameter Configuration

1. Core Operation Logic

When the function is enabled, the inverter will automatically start the water pump at a preset time interval and run it at a set frequency for a short period. This prevents freezing through the flow of water molecules and avoids bearing rust through mechanical rotation. Its operation is controlled by four core parameters as follows:

  • Function Enable (U1-09): Set this parameter to 1 to enable the anti-freeze and anti-rust function (enabled by default).
  • Operation Cycle (U1-10): Set the time interval between two automatic starts. Factory default: 1500 minutes (about 25 hours), setting range: 3 ~ 60,000 minutes.
  • Operation Duration (U1-11): Set the duration of each anti-freeze operation. Factory default: 10 seconds, setting range: 0 ~ 6,000 seconds.
  • Operation Frequency (U1-12): Set the motor speed during anti-freeze operation. Factory default: 30.00 Hz, setting range: 0.00 Hz ~ 100.00 Hz.

2. Function Effects

  • Anti-Freeze: Suitable for low-temperature areas. Regular water flow in the pipeline prevents the pump and pipeline from cracking due to freezing of accumulated water.
  • Anti-Rust: For pump units that are not used for a long time, regular micro-operation prevents the impeller and pump body from sticking and seizing due to oxidative rust.

Application Tips

  • Intelligent inverters such as the AU620 series list this as one of the "intelligent protection functions", which is mainly designed for three-phase AC water pumps.
  • If your application environment is extremely cold, you can appropriately shorten the operation cycle (U1-10) or extend the operation duration (U1-11) to ensure the protection effect.
